Playing against UH Manoa

On April 1st I played against The University of Hawaii baseball team in a non conference game. It was my second time playing against them as we played them last year too. It is always fun going up against a team like them knowing that they are a much bigger school and are in a higher division than us. It is also pretty sweet because they have a much bigger stadium and bring a lot more fans than we do to our games. They just had their fielding surface redone with brand new turf which is a baseball player’s dream playing surface. The game got shaky in the first inning when the Rainbow Warriors got off to a 5-0 lead. We quickly battled back and answered with a 3-run homerun from freshman, Tyler Arnold. The score was 5-3 for a couple of innings as there was a stalemate going on and both teams were putting on a defensive clinic. In the later innings the Rainbow Warriors tacked on to their lead and the score was 10-3. But we were not done battling yet. We scraped across a few hits from myself, Bronson Rivera, and Troy Harding and we put across a few more runs and we were looking at a 10-8 ballgame. As hard as we battled we unfortunately could not finish the job and we lost 10-8. We did however out hit the Rainbow Warriors by 5 hits. The experience was fantastic and the vibes were electric. We were upset about losing but we had faith that we can play with the best of them as we get to the end of our season and we are third on our conference standings. I am grateful for being able to be a part of this experience and get 2 hits against a solid division 1 team. And hey, maybe next year it will be a different story!
