Summer is here!

Aloha all,

That’s right, summer is here! And that means I will be passing the baton to the next talented writer for Kalamalama. It has been such a pleasure talking story with everyone each week, I feel proud to contribute to such an amazing team of student writers.

Writing for the school newspaper has taught me so much about myself, others, the world around me, and current events going on in my community. I hope I was able to inform you of some things around town you didn’t know about, and how to give a hand where you see one needed. As for myself, I learned it never hurts to throw in your opinion, and tell the world how you really feel.

Writing for Kalamalama has strengthened my voice as a woman, and I will continue to keep writing and sharing the good word in other aspects of my life, as I encourage you all to. Mahalo to my friends, family, and kumu who encourage me to keep writing.

If you didn’t know, ‘Kalamalama’ is a two part word, in Hawaiian that means, ‘to share’ or ‘inform’ & ‘illuminate’ or ‘a beacon of light’. I have done my best over these past few months to share with you a positive light so that moving forward you can use that information and do good things in the world.

I hope you all have a great summer-

Bronwyn Almy
