Review: ‘Oldtimers’
Another poet has arrived at HPU! Who knew Hawaii had so many renounced poets? It’s truly remarkable. I suppose the way of life here, and the nature that engulfs in fever-like dream, is something to try to capture into words.

Aloha everyone. I’m unsure if anyone from the school, other than the honors students and faculty, knows who Brandy McDougall is, but she is a Hawaii State Poet Laureate.
She’s published two poetry books: “Finding Meaning”, and “Birth Land.” At these conferences, she discussed and read from “Birthland” which was honestly quite moving, quite passionate. She brought tears to herself and to her audience.
Especially for a school-based poetry reading conference, I thought it was quite endearing.
Unsure if you want to watch the new “it Ends with us” movie? Well lucky you, you can read a review and see if this movie is for you.
Trigger Warning to those with DV backgrounds, btu this book/movie tells a story of a young woman who escapes and broke the cycle. Want to learn more about her journey? I got you.
There is something new coming! Something reused, recycled, responsible. Something creative and sustainable.
A handcrafted, student engaged, one of a kind mural.
Crafted by the lovely members of LSF at HPU.
In a few weeks, the Makerspace will be adding a new piece of art to their collection.
Wanderlust is both a class and a literary magazine published by HPU. And on Thursday March 21st, they had a launch party for this year’s issue!
Many pieces brought emotion to me, there’s so many I can’t list them all, but you should definitely check them out.
If you like creating pieces or want to strengthen your ability to do so, you should check this class out.
Lights! Camera! Action! Roll the film! Are you interested in foreign films? Love the culture of fashion, class, and love? Why not indulge a bit in the culture by watching a film of their making?
The Theatre Arts play an important part in all of our lives. Without it, we wouldn’t have Hamilton, Criminal Minds or The Marvel universe. Theatre can be traced back as early as the 6th century BCE. It has been in our lives for centuries and influences us everyday. New York and California are the hotspots for actors, but what do those living in Hawaii do if they are interested in acting? Well they could come to Hawaii Pacific University, but currently there is a lack of theatre classes at HPU, and I believe that with more classes, we can get more interest in theatre here at Hawaii Pacific University.
Hawai’i Pacific University used to have an anime club, but due to Covid-19, the club (like many other clubs) was disbanded. In the hope of reviving it, new club president, Kiyah Dixon, is attempting to build it once again from scratch.
Students in their first year at HPU are invited to submit photos, paintings, sketches or other artwork for consideration.
