I have just arrived back in Oahu after traveling for two weeks in North California for a baseball trip. This was my last in season travel trip as an athlete and it came with a lot of baggage. Our first destination was Fresno and when we got there it was completely cloudy and 40 degrees. I am from Arizona where its typically 90 degrees and now I live in Hawaii where it is always 80 degrees so 40 degrees to me was below freezing! We stayed in Fresno for 4 days and we played 4 games and believe me, it was so mentally and physically draining. I played in the cold like this before my freshman year of college when I lived in Ohio, but I left Ohio specifically because I hated playing baseball in the cold. After Fresno, we drove 3 hours to Sacramento to play our next 4 games. When we got there I was a little bit more satisfied because there was blue skies and it felt pretty nice, but the days that we had games it rained and was in the low 50’s. But we got through the 4 games and had a nice little off day and so a few of my teammates and I went to Golfland which was right across the street and played some mini golf and laser tag and not to brag but I had 5 hole in ones which won me a pretty cool multi colored golf ball. The next day we drove to our final destination which was San Francisco. San Francisco is one of my favorite places in the world. I was born just right out of the city and it has been one of my favorite places since I was a child. So I was pretty excited to be there. We got to drive over the Golden Gate Bridge which was an anxiety filled 5 minutes, then we went to a little lookout where we could take pictures of the bridge and Alcatraz. Then we went to the pier to have lunch and we did an “escape from Alcatraz” escape room. It took us 54 minutes to finish, and I provided no help whatsoever. I was so lost the whole time. But I figured out that I probably could not escape from prison, I probably won’t ever be a detective, and escape rooms are not my thing. But it was fun and a great experience so I count it as a win. We then played our final 4 games of the road trip and celebrated with a steak dinner after sweeping Menlo College. Overall it was a long but fun trip and I am glad to be back in Hawaii!
