As students, our day to day life can be stressful! Filled with time consuming tasks, endless assignments and emails, and a to-do list that seems to never stop growing. We all have a lot on our plate and this can be overwhelming when trying to juggle the multiple responsibilities that being an adult brings.
Do not stress over the little things! Something that I like to do when I start to feel the stress build, is finding my breath and being in the moment. And what I mean by finding your breath, is focusing on it: tuning into your body and the messages it’s telling you.
Our breath, a gift, quite simply a necessary thing, and honestly, an under-appreciated aspect of our daily life. Our breath carries us through the day, through our happiness and our tears. Our breath is so important because it’s the link between our body and mind. Our breath stays consistent, and it is a friend that will never give up on you.
While reading this, I want you take a moment to pause and recognize your breath. Pause what you’re doing and just listen. Listen to your surroundings, listen to the birds chirping, the wind brushing the trees, and the cars in the distance. It’s important to take our minds off of our worries. When we listen, we become aware of our surroundings and the beauty all around us.
Try this exercise through your day, listen to how your body and mind reacts.
