Support Local Authors & Artists in Honolulu

Aloha all,

On Wednesday, March 19th at 3:30pm, students and teachers gathered in the Sunset Ballroom at the Aloha Tower Marketplace for the release of Wanderlust Volume 21. As the student literary magazine of Hawai’i Pacific University, Wanderlust has long been a platform where creativity, passion, and the spirit of our ‘ohana come together.

The atmosphere of the event was filled with soul and emotion, a shared good energy from everyones enthusiasm that fueled the arts written and shared. It was a day where every participant contributed to the unique, warm energy that defines our campus community. Throughout the event, attendees experienced the best of what it means to be a HPU Shark—supporting one another and celebrating the creative journeys of fellow students!

The 808 Short Story Contest Winners announced:

  • Poetry: Jenneviv Reyes
  • Fiction: Aspen Pawlowski
  • Non-Fiction: Jordan Yocum

These outstanding achievements reminded us all of the incredible talent within our Hawai’i community. A special book signing and autograph session at the end of the event provided a perfect opportunity to connect with the brilliant minds and future authors.

The latest issue of Wanderlust is now available in the HPU Library, offering an inspiring collection of student works. For those looking for my poem “Colette” it can be found on page 41. (To the left) If you have a story or poem to share, submissions for the next issue will be accepted in Fall 2025.

Upcoming Event: Don’t miss the upcoming poetry & art exhibit featuring two incredibly talented students, Nyla Wolf and Dynell Bonner. (To the right) Their work will be showcased from April 18th to 20th at the Honolulu Downtown Art Center: a must-see event where you can see firsthand how your fellow classmates are supporting the local community. Join us in celebrating our vibrant literary scene and continue to support the creative endeavors that make HPU such a special place.

Mahalo for tuning in,

Bronwyn
