The Gatsby is a restaurant and bar in Kaka’ako near downtown Honolulu. I personally had a great experience there and really enjoyed my time there. They have a lot of different items that you can order on their menu, from seafood, barbeque, or even just the classic bar food. I say it is a bar but it is more of a restaurant that has a bar and then it turns into a nightclub at 10pm on the weekends. I ordered the fried calamari and brussel sprouts as my appetizer which were very appetising, and for my main dish I had the pork tacos which were also very good and good in both flavor and size. They also have a good choice of drinks to get. Usually I would have just gotten a beer but because I don’t usually go to places with a bar with a lot of options so I decided to get a whiskey sour. I was pretty impressed with the drink and I wish I would have tried other drinks but I am also just a college student with not the biggest budget. The only beers that they had on tap were Big Wave and Longboard, but they had other beers in bottle and can form. Overall the food and the drinks were good enough that I would go back. But even if they were not I would go back because the vibes were amazing. They had live music, which was a pleasant surprise. It wasn’t too loud where you couldn’t hear your table but it was good background music. The atmosphere of Gatsby is very chill, the bartenders and servers were very nice and the service was better than most restaurants that I have been to in Hawaii. I would 10/10 recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a nice chill date night.
